Main: Title Analysis and Design

The title of my magazine is going to be either:

   

Rage ; the definition of rage is violence or uncontrollable anger however in EDM along side other words it has a different definition which is to dance and party as hard as you can all night long. 

    

Rave ; this is a possibility because when someone thinks of EDM the main thing that people think of is a rave. Raves are concerts but there is a lot of dancing and drinking which all EDM fans enjoy greatly. 

   

Nocturnal ; Nocturnal is something that is active at night, which links well with EDM as most EDM concerts (raves) take place at night till early hours of the morning which is when the people attending would go back home sleep through the day and go back out at night. 

I think that for my Magazine title I will use Nocturnal as this not only sounds better but suits the Genre better that the other options. Also I feel like Nocturnal is a more suitable title because it sounds more so like a title than Rage does and will fill out the top of the Magazine cover better. 

For the title of my magazine I need a font that is bold - so that it stands out from the background and even with an image over it is still readable -  and sharp -has edges and corners that aren't rounded off so it stands out more -  I would like a font like this because fonts like these are conventional of the Genre, below are some possibilities of the texts that I will use:

Before doing my questionnaire I had to see which Sub-Genre of EDM most people listened to so I got a group of thirty people to answer the following question:  

After getting the results from this question I was able to base some of my following questions in my questionnaire around the Sub-Genre that was the most popular, these are the results of the questions that follow: 

   

 

With the results from my audience research I now have an idea of what people think relates to EDM so I can base what my magazine looks like of these results so if a person saw it they would know that it was around EDM even if the Masthead did not directly state it.

My magazine is an EDM/Dance music based magazine so the primary audience that it is aimed at is the younger adults of the modern day, mainly people who are aged twenty to thirty. EDM is mainly aimed at the male gender however females can be just as into EDM as males can be, so the magazine I am making will mainly be aimed at men as men make up the majority of the EDM fan base however it may attract the female listeners of EDM as well.

However since the article of the magazine I am making is an 80s issue it will not only attract the eyes of the younger adults of the EDM scene but the older adults who are 45 and above who listens to EDM/Dance in the 80s. This audience holds a greater amount of possible readers because in the 80s EDM/Dance was not heavily aimed at one gender like it is today so a large amount of male readers may pick it up but just as much females could pick it up.
